Why has APTIS changed its name? Why is it now APTIS ESOL?

Wonderful News to all of us who value the benefits of this exam, and its amazing contribution to certifying English Level proficiency!!

APTIS is now regulated by Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation,

Ofqual, in England.

What is Ofqual?

Ofqual is short for The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation. It is a non-ministerial government department which regulates qualifications, exams and tests in England. Colloquially and publicly, Ofqual is often referred to as the exam "watchdog" (Wikipedia). This department is the ONLY one in charge of regulating and certifying official exams, qualifications and tests in England.

Ofqual regulates, for example, the Cambridge Exams, such as PET, FCE, CAE, or PCE. As well as other University exams identifying them as belonging to levels L3 or L5 according to their value in the education program.

APTIS ESOL: What does this change in the name mean?

With this change for APTIS ESOL, the British Council is letting us know that APTIS has been able to prove its value as an assessment tool before the same organism which regulates Cambridge Examinations. Thus, APTIS reputation as well as recognition stands not only right beside such traditional exams as those, but also, I'm sure its journey has only just begun!!

All my best wishes for APTIS ESOL! Long life and prosperity! May it continue helping so many people as it has already done . May so many others be able to show the world the extent of their skills in English communication through this invaluable, friendly, innovative, and modern tool, we now call APTIS ESOL!

To those who already have an APTIS Certificate, or those who are thinking of getting one, my most sincere congratulations on your choice!!
